Who Is Jesus?

Jesus Christ is the Holy Son of God.  He was born of a virgin.  He walked among us, yet did not sin.  He suffered a horrible death on a cross, was placed in a tomb, and rose up from the grave to show us all that there is life after death.  He ascended into Heaven and is now seated at the right of the Father in Heaven.

Why Do I Need Him?

Most of us feel we are generally good people and would likely go to Heaven when we die.  However, at some point in our lives we have surely told a lie or taken something that didn't belong to us.  Some of us may have even committed adultery. The bible tells us that these actions are sins.

The bible teaches us in the book of Romans, Chapter 3, Verse 23 that all of us have sinned and don't measure up to what God expects of us.  Therefore, on the day of judgment, we will have to answer for each of these sinful actions before God.  Because God is Holy (without sin), fair and just, He cannot allow sin to be where He is.  As a result, our sin condemns us to an eternity in hell.

But WAIT...here's the GOOD NEWS!! God loves us so much and doesn't want to see us go to hell.  So He provided one single way for us to be with Him in Heaven even though we have sinned.  Someone had to take the punishment and pay the price for our sin.  His name is JESUS CHRIST!  Jesus is the only way to overcome the sin in our lives.

Jesus, although He was without sin, was condemned to death and was crucified on a cross to take away the sin of the world. That means for you too!  In the bible (Book of John, Chapter 3, beginning in Verse 16) it is recorded that Jesus said, "God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him, would not perish (die), but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved. He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God."  He died so we can spend eternity in Heaven.  In other words, Jesus took the punishment for our sin upon Him so we could be free.

What Do I Need to Do?

The answer is very simple, and yet is the most important decision you will ever make.  Just as when you take an antibiotic to rid yourself of an infection, you must follow the physician's orders in order to get well.  It is the same principle here.  God is the Great Physician and has developed a cure to rid us of our sin.  Jesus is that cure.  Here are the physician's orders:

1.  Believe with all of your heart that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the Living God.  (John 3:16 above)

2.  Confess that you have sinned against God and need forgiveness from God for those sins.  (The bible says in I John 1:9 that if we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.)

3.  Turn away from your sinful ways.  (The bible says in 2 Chronicles 7:14 that if we humble ourselves and pray, and seek His face, and turn from our wicked ways, then He will hear us from Heaven and will forgive our sins.)

4.  Keep God's commandments.  (The commandments are found in the book of Exodus, Chapter 20, Verses 1-17.)

If you have read the instructions and truly intend to make this positive change in your life, please say this short prayer.

"Dear God,  I realize I have sinned against you.  I believe that Jesus Christ is Your Son.  I accept Him as my savior.  Please forgive my sin and grant to me Your gift of eternal life.  Help me find a church that will teach me Your ways so that I can live my life from this point forward pleasing to You.  Amen."
